    Crankshaft Thrust Washer

The crankshaft thrust washer controls the axial movement of the crankshaft, maintaining precise endplay limits within the engine block. It forms a critical bearing surface between the crankshaft counterweights and the engine’s thrust faces, preventing excessive forward or rearward crankshaft movement during clutch engagement, torque loading, or automatic transmission pressure changes. When a thrust washer wears beyond specification, axial play increases, causing vibration, misaligned gear engagement, unstable oil pump drive contact, and in severe cases, crankshaft-to-block contact. This leads to rapid bearing deterioration, compromised lubrication flow, and catastrophic crankshaft or transmission interface failure.

Porza crankshaft thrust washers are manufactured using high-strength, wear-resistant bearing alloys engineered to withstand continuous axial loading and hydrodynamic lubrication conditions. Their precision-ground surfaces ensure uniform oil film formation, reducing friction and maintaining consistent crankshaft positioning even under heavy torque fluctuations. Unlike worn washers that permit harmful crankshaft drift, Porza components restore OEM-spec endplay tolerance, stabilizing the rotating assembly and protecting main bearings, connecting rods, and transmission coupling elements.

Correct thrust washer function is essential for crankshaft alignment, timing chain stability, and long-term engine durability. Porza ensures perfect fitment and dimensional accuracy, allowing the lubrication system to maintain proper film thickness and preventing metal-to-metal contact under all operating conditions. This engineering precision results in smoother engine operation, reduced wear on mating components, and reliable axial control throughout the engine’s service life.
