The radiator fan temperature switch activates the cooling fan once the coolant reaches a predetermined temperature. It acts as a safety mechanism by preventing the engine from exceeding safe operating temperatures. When functioning properly, it ensures that the fan only runs when needed, improving energy efficiency and reducing wear on electrical components. A failing switch may prevent the fan from activating, which can rapidly lead to overheating, especially in traffic or warm climates. In other cases, the switch may stick in the “on” position, causing unnecessary noise and power consumption. Regular replacement ensures stable coolant temperatures, reliable engine protection, and optimal cooling system operation.
