    Carbon Brush, Starter

    The carbon brush in the starter motor transfers electrical current to the rotating armature, allowing the starter to generate the high torque required to crank the engine. These brushes maintain constant contact with the commutator under extreme electrical load, vibration, and thermal stress during every start cycle. Proper carbon brush condition is essential for efficient current transfer, strong cranking power, and reliable engine starting.

    As carbon brushes wear down through repeated use, electrical contact becomes weak or inconsistent. This leads to slow cranking, intermittent starting, clicking noises, and in severe cases complete starter motor failure. Excessive brush wear also causes arcing and overheating inside the starter, damaging the commutator and leading to full starter replacement if left unaddressed.
